What is Social Justice & Feminist Therapy?
Social Justice and Feminist therapy intertwine in their commitment to addressing systemic oppression and promoting equity and empowerment. These therapeutic approaches recognize the interconnectedness of individual experiences with broader social structures, including those related to race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability.
In my work as a therapist, these frameworks show up as collaboration with clients to explore the impact of intersecting identities and societal norms on wellbeing. I strive to create an inclusive and affirming space where clients can challenge oppressive systems, cultivate self-awareness, and work towards personal and collective liberation.
Sometimes this framework is explicit in the questions I ask, and sometimes it is implicit in how I hold your experience with care and curiosity.
